Perinatology and High-Risk Pregnancies aims at early screening, early diagnosis and treatment of adverse events that may occur in the mother or baby during pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and subsequent puerperium.
Our patients in this group are followed up in the Department of Perinatology and High-Risk Pregnancies.
Perinatology is the specialty that diagnosing negativities during pregnancy and applying the necessary treatment. Perinatology deals with maternal and infant health. It aims to have a healthy birth by taking the necessary precautions against the risks during pregnancy.
Perinatology, Amniocentesis, cordocentesis cvs, giving blood to the fetus in the womb, treatment procedures are performed to the fetus in the womb.
A perinatologist works in hospitals with a perinatology department.
Perinatology department is the department that monitors and treats risky pregnancies. Expectant mothers with high-risk pregnancies should have pregnancy follow-ups performed by a perinatologist, who is also an obstetrician.

Risk pregnancy or high risk pregnancy; These are pregnancies with an additional disease before or during pregnancy, or with a risk of miscarriage or disability in the baby during screening. The classification of these risks is as follows:

An unusual situation that may occur during pregnancy can be detected by perinatology specialists and this risk is minimized with routine examinations.
In all pregnancies, routine screenings such as double test, triple test, gestational diabetes and ultrasound are performed by obstetricians.
Pregnancy can be followed up by a perinatologist if the above-mentioned maternal and fetal risks exist or are detected by routine tests.
Perinatologists, who are also obstetricians, monitor high-risk pregnancies in a hospital setting.
In hospitals and medical centers with perinatology specialists, special screenings, tests and treatments are carried out for risky pregnancies. Thus, close follow-up of both the expectant mother and the baby by specialists is possible.
